Committee hears cafeteria horrors

date Wednesday, February 9, 1972

location LA campus

At a meeting of the Food and Services committee, student representatives presented a list of complaints about the cafeteria, including "metal objects in stuffed green peppers" and "having fruit drinks stirred by an employee with his bare hand." Other complaints came from students who found a band-aid in a salad, bones in jello, and wood-chips in pudding.

The committee, which was made up of representatives from administration, the student body, and Szabo (the company that provided food services at the LA campus), agreed to address some complaints, including buying a new dishwasher and ice machine.1

Szabo's contract was not renewed, being passed over in favor of Professional Food Service Management in June 1972.2
