The Malibu Times reported that Steven Lemley would serve as associate dean of student life for the new Malibu campus when it opened in September.¹ Lemley, the son-in-law of Pepperdine chancellor Norvel Young, was a recent arrival from Ohio State, where he did his PhD in communication.

Lemley served under dean of student life Bob Thomas, who had served as dean of admissions at the LA campus.¹
