LA dorms begin emptying out

date Thursday, May 18, 1972

location LA campus

With most residential students moving to the Malibu campus for the fall term, it began to look like the dorms on the LA campus would be mostly empty. Marilyn Hall, a women's dorm capable of housing 200, was expected to host only 100 in the fall. Of three dorms for men with capacity for 175, exactly zero men had requested a room in two of them. Efforts were underway to renovate the dorms to make them more attractive, and some space was being given over to non-residential purposes such as study rooms, game rooms, lounges, etc.1
